Howard Hughes Book Project

A couple of pieces from a book produced about Howard Hughes. The book took the idea of real life events happening as films, and consisted of poster format artworks such as these. The project ended up being very computer based.

Create an original cover illustration for Little White Lies magazine, depicting the main character of one of our five favourite films of 2011:
Drive,
Black Swan,
The Tree of Life,
Super 8,
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
I chose 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' for my design. Not sure whether to enter it or not.

Animation Elective - Topography

This is my work so far for an animation unit on topography. I have taken it in a different direction because:
animation = time based medium
time + topography = journey
topography animation = journey
Anyway I decided to look at a spiritual journey as well as a physical one which is a martial art that I do called Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. I am also exploring line work because topography/maps focus on this. An older meaning for topography is also study of culture in a place, and I find it interesting having this japanese martial art being taught in the UK

Inception!

No not the film, rather a beginning. Welcome to my new blog which will follow my work and practice through illustration and related fields. This hopefully be a place to show what I'm up to at the moment, and also a place to discuss and critique my work. Be as harsh or as nice as you like (don't worry, I can take it either way).
I am currently studying illustration at university so we can see if my practice improves somewhat over the next few years. So lets get going, I'll post again soon.
